Install a Vafeo distribution on hard disk

Howto install a Vafeo distribution on hard disk


The vafeo2hd installer is derived from morphixinstaller, Morphix distribution installer . 
  • On the Vafeo desktop, double-click on the "Install System on Hard Disk" icon:

  • Click on "Forward" :

  • Make sure you have at least 2 gigabytes for the principal partition and a space for the swap partition , then click "Forward" to go on partitioning screen :

Select the correct drive on which you will install the Vafeo distribution. Reserve at least one ext3 partition and a swap partition. In the above example hda is the hard drive which serves as a unit of the installation. /dev/hda1 is the data partition and /dev/hda2 is the swap partition. When partitioning is done, leave the current screen.

  • The installation process continues. Vafeo2hd will ask about data and swap partitions:

  • Be sure of the relevance of the answer before clicking "Forward". The system will ask for your confirmation:

  • Confirm this is what you want, click on "Yes, I'm sure." The installation will continue:

  • After copying the system on the disk, vafeo2hd ask you to inform the hostname:

  • Fill in the name of the box, then click "Forward":

  • Fill in the password for root, then click "Forward":

  • Give a user name and password and click "Forward":

  • Install GRUB utility in the MBR (Master Boot Record) on your main hard drive from which you want to boot the machine directly. Click on "Forward" to complete the installation:

  • Congratulations: you have just installed a Vafeo distribution on a hard drive. Quit vafeo2hd then re-boot the machine without the DVD.
  • The machine will boot directly from the hard disk.
