Boot freeze
Up to BUGs
Vafeo uses a tool to display a graphic display at boot time for desktop distributions (vd_...).
This tool also executes other tasks required to start the machine. It will tolerate only 2 minutes maximum for a executed task. If it does not get an answer after that it will ... stop.
Vafeo also needs to obtain an IP address in order to function in
network. To do this it requires a DHCP server on your LAN. This is the
case for most users who have an Internet connection: internet providers
often provides a router that acts as a DHCP server.
So, if you do not have a DHCP server AND if your hardware configuration is not too powerful, vafeo risk of freezing at boot.
We are working hard at this time to solve this problem.
Thanks for your patience.
Pending a final solution to the problem described above, one of the following palliative can be used:
1. Activating a DHCP server on your LAN before booting the machine with a CD/DVD Vafeo.
2. Do <ctrl><Alt><F1> at keyboard : if you get a text screen, then type the following commands:
sudo su
/etc/init.d/gdm start
With luck, after that you will have the graphical environment that starts!
I agree, that is not beautiful! But it is better that having burnt a CD/DVD for nothing.
Thanks for your patience.
